You know, I always say, when it comes to photography, different preference and different styles fit different people. It would be boring if that wasn’t the case. But, when it comes to Vivo, it’s very divisive, especially with the X300 Ultra, people think there aren’t many upgrades, but there are some highlights that I really want to showcase on this Vivo X300 Ultra. And also, give my full opinion about it so far, after using it for about a month already, I think. Anyway, let’s dive into the video. Have you seen the background? This is absolutely stunning. So, let’s find out what the Vivo X300 Ultra can truly do. In this channel’s life, I’ve been to different locations testing out different places and see how the phone performs. But, there’s no denying that always stuff with the climb and the beauty being right next to Austria as well has kept a place in my heart. And a drive that hopefully I can go back to soon, with hiking in the mountains and telling a story about my experience and the performance of a phone. And while this was recorded a while ago, I still want to give you a part of that story here, to talk about my experience with the Vivo X300 Ultra as a photographer. With hopefully someday also going back to British Garden and climb the mountains there. Subscribe and support my channel to make this all possible, if you want to see that. Your help does more than you ever know to make that possible. And hopefully, give more brands an opportunity to be featured as well. So, let’s talk about the Vivo X300 Ultra beginning with a climb in open stuff. >> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Oh, I can put some weight [music] on here. I know we’re not lost. Slowly, when you walk up a path like this, energy is just somehow restored and you just get more energy walking up. I still have 411 m of elevation and 2 km to go. Which is quite a bit. But we’ll get there eventually, [music] but this is the part that I really like because simply put, I get new scenery. I get to experience the things that I don’t have in the Netherlands and I love that part. It’s so calming, so relaxing this kind of nature as well. Even though I’m sweating buckets, this is ooh. I needed it though. Good for me. Anyway, let’s continue the trip and showcase what the Vivo X300 Ultra can do when it comes to the camera. Hopefully, I’m up there soon so I can showcase where I’m going to because that view that view is stunning. One thing though that I will have to say when it comes to this Vivo X200 Ultra, it still needs battery optimization because of situations like these where it’s a bit warmer, I’m using Google Maps all the time, I’m listening to music, I’m taking videos, and so on, which is intense, of course. It is losing battery life faster than I think the X200 Ultra did. So, a little bit optimization is needed there. But, luckily enough I got back up because of course I’m shooting quite a bit. Now, one thing noticeable when it comes to of course custom setups on this Vivo X200 Ultra that I really love is that sometimes you need to change it a little bit. Settings like these, you don’t want the blacks to be too dark and too crushed because then you kind of lose out on that vibrance that it can have. So, a setup is changed for that and that is the code that I’m sharing right now so you can test it out yourself. Just Just your normal average run. >> [music] [music] >> This is the experience someone who’s never used >> [laughter] >> anything like this. What do you think of the phone? >> It’s [ _ ] insane. >> It is, right? >> Because it’s What the [ _ ] man? I saw everything and it’s like a camera. >> Yeah. >> And I got only >> an iPhone. >> an iPhone. >> Now, the Vivo X300 Ultra, without a doubt, is an excellent device. That’s good battery life, not amazing. I feel like that’s the part that it still lacks a little bit. I feel like it could have been a little bit better. But, when it comes to the camera capabilities, the customization that you have, the possibility to play around with those styles and make it your own, is one thing that is a real highlight when it comes to comparison between the X300 Ultra and the X200 Ultra. Something I wish to talk about a little bit more, to talk about my experience, is the styles and the involvement of it. So, we have the normal ones we’ve seen on Vivo before, like vivid and natural, but also refined now. The new thing, however, is here is the customizability of those styles, being able to tune the setup to your own perfection. Now, this part for me is really important. I like my shots to have a bit more contrast. I can simply add that. I want my shots to have less sharpness. I can lower that. I want my black and white to have brighter whites and darker blacks with a bit of noise and vignette. I can do that. And I’ve been doing so. That freedom is that extra step where I feel like I can truly tune it to my own liking more than any other can in auto photography. Because in plenty situations, I will need to use auto. Now, it isn’t faultless by any means. And I’ve stated before that I feel like shots can still be too sharp for my liking, even at that minus 100. Even more so for my nature photography. Well, it works for buildings, of course. I wish I could simply lower it more than it is right now. And the difference simply isn’t as much as it should be. And I would say, if you shoot on regular auto, it can still lack a bit of that soul. But with these changes, it has addressed that bit of that flatter look some shots could have. The depth in the image now feels a lot more layered compared to before. If, however, I have a feedback when it comes to this style setting, is that the contrast should simply be a slider as well, not the way it is currently. We then also have this new video mode where I shoot my logs in. Now, naturally, this is something that should be a separate app. And I’ve given this feedback as such, because I feel like it makes a lot more sense. Because right now, you cannot put this in the quick menu. You must go on the far right, and then on the more you will find pro video. This is an extra step that I think should be removed. And just making this a separate app makes a lot more sense. That being said, let’s discuss the log that we have here in this mode, and a little bit of the overview as well. Now, what a log is that you can see how much space you have left in your phone itself. The separate battery percentage is also really nice to see there, so you can keep an eye on that because yes, this does drain a lot more battery, of course. To then the big red button to record. However, I do think it could be better indicated when you are recording in brighter environments because the difference between recording and not recording simply isn’t that clear. For results, however, you do have some amazing options. While the shots you are seeing in my videos are the standard 10-bit 100 Mbit, you can also go all the way up to 1200 Mbit. That is insane, but sadly my software doesn’t support it, but I’m sure in the future it will. Stability-wise though, I will say there is very little to complain. I’m still a human and I’m not faultless in my movements and therefore it will not be like a gimbal effect to it. But out of the ultras I’ve tested, this is simply the best for video recording. And therefore I always say that there is so much more to a phone than just pure specs because the changes Vivo has made here on the Vivo X300 Ultra compared to its predecessor, the X200 Ultra, do make a difference in your experience that is really hard to ignore. Naturally, the Vivo X200 Ultra and the X300 Ultra are often with me because of the excellent capabilities, but more so the reliability of it. And in terms of my point of view photography, I use Vivo because I can trust it so well in terms of auto focus, but also quality. And naturally, I’ve taken the Vivo X300 with me to different locations as well. So, let me show you that before I end this video and my final thoughts on the Vivo X300 Ultra in this long-term review. >> [music] >> The Vivo X300 Ultra at the end is simply an excellent device. The camera capabilities, that is really important for someone like me, is excellent. The possibilities to record that log, that new video mode for log capabilities is excellent and I love that. And of course, when it comes to raw capabilities and just the overall experience of the camera itself with the new additional functions to enhance the experience for someone like me and make it your kind of profile and then share with even is something that I truly love about the Vivo X300 Ultra. I think there they’ve done an excellent excellent job and it’s hard to ignore this kind of hardware and software experience in general when it comes to the photography. However, is it faultless? No, by no means it is faultless. I think battery life, well, being solid is nothing really impressive. I was expecting a little bit more here, but of course with better camera hardware you will get more battery usage and therefore it probably is related a little bit to that as well. Don’t get me wrong, I can make it till the end of the day quite easily, but I was expecting a little bit more. Even more so if you compare it to the X300 Ultra and its battery size compared to this. So I was expecting just a little bit more, but nothing really to complain about. And then lastly, of course we are dealing with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and what does that mean? Well, the phone does have the tendency to heat up. Especially during warmer days you will notice this and therefore it will affect battery life.
But apart from that, there’s literally hardly anything I can say bad about the Vivo X300 Ultra. It’s been excellent for me and it’s been excellent in terms of camera performance. Do I think it has to soul that for instance Xiaomi has? To a degree it can, but it doesn’t have that same kind of approach to photography and that’s something you will notice and therefore I really like that experience where I can change the way that the image looks and therefore get images that look more towards my own personal preference because that is a real big part when it comes to photography. By the way, what do you think about the Vivo X300 Ultra and of course the results that you are seeing when it comes to a phone like this because I honestly have been enjoying it a lot.
